This piece of moulding offers a finishing touch and has a variety of uses. As a shoe, it is installed at the base of a baseboard or along the bottom edge of a wall where it meets the floor, which covers the gap between the flooring material. Used as a cap, it can be installed on top of a baseboard, chair rail, or wainscoting to add visual interest and create a more finished appearance. Third, used as a panel, it creates raised or recessed look on walls or ceilings that can be installed in various patterns such as squares, rectangles, or geometric shapes. This usage is most often found in traditional or classic design.
