Dead Flat is a traditional very flat matt finish which is suitable for use on interior woodwork, plaster, and metal surfaces, where an exceptionally matt, elegant finish is required. Not suitable for use in kitchens or bathrooms, on furniture or areas of heavy wear. Available in all Farrow & Ball colors. Preparation use Interior Wood Primer & Undercoat, Stain Block Primer or Metal Primer. An environmentally friendly eco-finish with low VOCs. 2% sheen level, not wipeable. This finish is the modern answer to ‘flatted lead’ used in the second quarter of the 18th century and is chosen today to either make a design statement, or when attempting to authentically replicate the traditional look of a period property.
Dead Flat is Farrow and Ball's multi-surface, ultra matte finish for walls, woodwork and metal, with added toughness.
Dead Flat was developed by Farrow & Ball over 70 years ago to recreate the 18th century ‘flatted lead’ paint effect. This traditional method originally involved teams of artisans painstakingly layering coats of paint to build a deep, rich and pigmented matte look, which was often reserved for the formal reception rooms of a house due to the work involved.
