The male Thread Type is an NPT. NPT has a tapered male and female thread that seals with Teflon tape or jointing compound. The female Thread Type is an NPSM. NPSM – American National Standard Pipe Straight Mechanical Joint thread. This type creates a non-pressure tight connection in applications that are not subject to internal pressures.
